Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer Review

Milk Makeup is a brand I have seen all over social media and not a brand I had tried, when their Hydra Grip primer was, it seemed, raved about by most beauty gurus online I decided to try my first product from Milk.

Coming in 2 sizes, a mini 10ml for £13 and 45ml for £27, I chose to get the mini one as I didn’t know how I would get on with it. I bought mine from Cult Beauty and it’s described as:

Take your skin on a trip (geddit?) with Milk Makeup’s brand new, green-tinted liquid Hydro Grip Primer. Boasting a heavy hit of plant-derived oils, as well as moisturising, soothing and balancing aloe water, cherry blossom, hyaluronic acid, and B vitamins, this hard-worker deeply hydrates skin for a smooth and blissed-out finish. While the game-changing addition of blue agave extract forms an invisible layer to grip make up for all-day hold. In fact, in a consumer study 100% of subjects said their skin felt more hydrated, had a healthy-looking glow and their make up lasted longer as long as 12-hours post application! Just allow the formula one minute to fully absorb to activate full grip effect and then apply your make up as normal to create a flawless and long-lasting make up look.

There are a lot of great ingredients in this primer, plus as it’s green it helps to cancel out any redness. It doesn’t lie when it says it a gripping primer, the formula when applied to the skin is very tacky which I personally don’t mind as it helps foundation stick to it.

The packaging is a simple tube with a pump applicator. I would say a little goes a long way, with this primer. I definitely don’t use a full pump, I prefer half a pump to cover my entire face or I find it can be too much product. The formula itself doesn’t have an unpleasant smell and I apply it by patting it onto the area.

As someone who has combination skin, I don’t always put this primer on my T-Zone, I’ll only put it on my cheeks where I have redness/acne. I prefer a pore blurring primer for my T-Zone as sometimes hydrating ones can make me look too shiny and they really don’t do anything to help fill the pores!

Whilst the tube is really small, I am not sure if I would buy the full size. I do like the primer and can see why it has been so popular, but I don’t think it’s for me. Can’t always win them all, but I’m glad I only bought the tiny size rather than full size! Have you tried this primer? What do you think, let me know in the comments below!
